English Summary

The literary award Anasoft Litera, established in 2006, is one of the most prestigious and highly valued Slovak book awards. The award is given to honor the most distinguished literary work in Slovak fiction, which was published during the preceding year.

A 10,000 eur prize is awarded to the winning book by the general partner of the project ANASOFT.

The utmost objectivity in assessing the winner is this award’s priority. All published titles are automatically nominated and evaluated by an independently appointed jury, which is selected annually from among the country's finest critics, writers and academics to maintain the consistent excellence of the prize.

Anasoft Litera is the Slovak equivalent of other prominent European literary awards, such as Magnesia Litera for Czech literature, Polish literary award Nike, Man Booker Prize for writers from the British Commonwealth and Ireland, the Goethe Prize for German literature, the Miguel de Cervantes Prize for Spanish literature, and the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, awarded in Austria.

The award aims at drawing attention to the literary works of Slovak writers in Slovakia and abroad, increasing Slovak cultural awareness, enhancing the public’s literary orientation, and encouraging scholarly and public discussion.
